Remember The Call To Action

Most DIY marketing campaigns are missing one vital ingredient. Here's how to make sure that you get the most out of all your marketing pieces.

Imagine you’re driving along a motorway in a strange city

But this motorway has no signs. You don’t know where the exits go, and there are no other signs to give you any clue as to where you’re headed or where you should turn off.

(And no, you don’t have a GPS navigation unit or any other knick-knacks to help you! It’s just you, the car, and the motorway, dude.)

That would be pretty frustrating, right?

You’d literally be direction-less, and aimless.

A lot of DIY marketing is the same

Or rather, poorly-constructed marketing pieces are the same. As in they don’t have an offer, or a call to action.

These letters, ads or newsletters or even websites are just blurb with information. Usually the information isn’t even that interesting, and you just bin it.

That’s probably one of the biggest mistakes with DIY marketing pieces. Business owners get so wrapped up in writing the bulk of it, they forget about the offer! The call to action!

Provide a call to action

And make it a good one. Go for “call us today!” rather than a feeble, apologetic “don’t hesitate to contact me sometime should this be of interest”.

This should be applied to absolutely everything: your sales letters, your newsletters, your web pages (yes, each web page), your ads… the whole lot.

See, here’s a call to action right here, where I ask you to sign up to my marketing tips newsletter, so you get more articles every month.

Would you like to use this article?

Yes, you can use this article with your clients, prospects, and your database. You can use it on your website, on your blog, or in your newsletter... whatever you like! Just so long as you leave it exactly as it is, and don't change it in any way. That means including any hyperlinks, exactly as they are. You can omit the photograph and caption, but no changes are permitted to the rest of the text.

If you include any text, photographs or links on the page on your own products or services, please do that separately from the article itself. (Using a horizontal rule is a convenient way to do that.) That way, your clients will be able to clearly identify your services.

If you have any questions about any of these requirements, please email me (cornelia@fxmarketing.co.nz), I'll be happy to help.

Also, if you use the article, you must include this text at the end - as it is here, word for word:
